Mothers Day Buffet
|
|
On
Sunday 13th May, Rand Club celebrated
Mother’s Day in pure style. With the Main
Dining Room full to capacity, the luncheon
started at 12.45 with a short welcome speech
made by Robby Richardson, the General Manager.
The speech was highly entertaining, however
Robby ensured that we all understood how much
our mothers do for us and how they influence our
childhood and our growth into adulthood. We saw
quite a few tears being shed when Robby
concluded his welcome. |

As
soon as the welcome address was finished, Dimpy
Shabalala kept us all entertained with his piano playing
and singing as people started to help themselves to a
magnificent buffet. Tom Couper, our executive chef,
excelled in the presentation and quality of
approximately 25 different dishes accompanied by many
salad variations, fruit selections, cheese board and
dessert table. When we saw how little food was left
over, one can only conclude that the buffet was superb.

Just
after the main course, we welcomed the Children of the
Melodi Music Project from Soweto, conducted by Nimrod
Moloto. The General Manager writes the following.
”These children played for about 20 minutes and I can
only say one word – brilliant. Having spent 12 years
in the entertainment industry in which I traveled
through 11 countries, I have never seen children as
talented as this. Their performance was outstanding. I
must also point out that Nimrod Moloto can only be
regarded as one of South Africa’s unsung heroes. He
takes these children off the street and gives them
something to live for in studying and playing music. The
amount of effort that he and the Children of the Melodi
Music Project put into their work is rewarded with the
exceptional quality of their recital. Nimrod Moloto can
be contacted on 011 447 3648 or on email
nimrod@melodimusic.org.za
I guarantee that their performance and their
professionalism will leave you inspired and
overwhelmed.”
